How is Nifty calculated?

Nifty is calculated based on the free-float market capitalization method. The free-float market capitalization methodology is calculated by considering the equity’s price and multiplying it by the number of shares which are easily available in the market.

Nifty is even calculated based on a mathematical formula. It is done by multiplying the Equity capital with a price to procure market capitalization. The Index is calculated daily. This is based on the current market value divided by base market capital. After this, it is again multiplied by the Base Index Value of 1000.
